Pecafil® has been used extensively worldwide for over 30 years for the construction of many different foundation types, including wind tower bases. Pecafil® offers the opportunity to avoid the use of heavy traditional formwork and cranes. The result is a quick and simple installation process followed by backfilling and concreting.

As Pecafil does not have to be removed after concreting, large areas can be concreted at the same time. When constructing foundations that require backfilling prior to the concrete pour, then Pecafil® is the answer as it resists the forces due to backfill placing and compaction. Please note that the reinforcement cage must be solidly constructed. FRANK extruded fibre concrete bar spacers should be used to ensure that the correct cover is maintained at all times.

Pecafil® offers many advantages over traditional formwork for this application:

  • reduced excavation area
  • no cranes required for formwork installation
  • no formwork removal at end of concreting
  • area around outside of form is backfilled prior to the concrete pour
